THE CHALLENGE
In the industrial printing market, there are many low-cost printers for carton marking, but they often deliver poor print quality and lack reliability. Sellenis, a UK-based leader in industrial inkjet technology, set out to create a high-precision device that could achieve excellent marking quality while remaining rugged and versatile. They needed a system capable of printing large, high-contrast text and graphics on virtually any surface – porous or non-porous, flat or curved, from corrugated cartons and wood to concrete pipes and aluminum frames. At the same time, the printer had to operate reliably in harsh industrial environments while maintaining speed and precision across a variety of materials and print heights.
The opportunity
This project gave AJProTech the chance to help Sellenis elevate their industrial marking systems to the next level. By contributing our hardware and firmware expertise, we supported the development of a precise, reliable, and flexible solution capable of performing in demanding industrial environments – showcasing our ability to tackle complex engineering challenges.
The Solution
AJProTech designed the core PCB hardware and developed the FPGA firmware for the S-Jet 800 series, enabling precise, reliable control of the valve printheads. Our work supported multiple configurations (7, 16, or 32 valve printheads) and ensured accurate large-character printing across diverse surfaces. In addition to engineering, we handled prototyping and small-volume production runs, ensuring smooth validation and a reliable path toward scaling. This contribution allowed Sellenis to deliver a high-performance, industrial-grade marking printer tailored to demanding production environments.

AJProTech developed the core PCBA for the industrial marking printer, first designing the schematics and layout in Altium Designer and then overseeing PCB manufacturing. The result was hardware built for reliable performance, precision, and durability.
Our design focused on meeting the demands of harsh industrial environments while supporting the high-speed, high-contrast printing capabilities of the system.
Firmware Development
AJProTech developed the firmware for the S-Jet 800 industrial marking printer, leveraging FPGA programming to achieve real-time valvejet control and precise synchronization of the print process. We also implemented firmware for seamless Ethernet communication with the PC, ensuring fast data exchange and reliable operation. This approach enabled accurate, consistent, and high-quality marking across multiple configurations and demanding industrial environments.
Impact
The collaboration between AJProTech and Sellenis resulted in the successful launch of the S-Jet 800 series, a next-generation industrial marking printer that set a new benchmark for print quality and reliability.
